Prospects of Belarus-Vietnam cooperation in education discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Opportunities for opening up joint departments, implementing joint scientific projects and research were discussed at a meeting with representatives of the official delegation of Binh Duong University of Vietnam at the Ministry of Education of Belarus on the 4th of October.

According to the Minister of Education of Belarus, Sergei Maskevich, active cooperation in the scientific and education sector will bring about more global prospects, i.e. the establishment of Belarusian-Vietnamese R&D companies. According to the minister, the opening of a subsidiary of the Department of Pre-University Education of Belarusian State University at Binh Duong University of Vietnam, on which an official agreement was signed in Minsk on the 4th of October, will strengthen bilateral cooperation in education and research and step up exports between educational institutions.

The delegation of the Vietnamese university, led by President Cao Van Phuong, paid the first ever visit to Belarus. The delegation comprised heads and workers of the structural subdivisions of the university, which allowed discussion on a wide range of issues and the definiton of  the most promising programs for inter-university cooperation. Cooperation in IT and medicine is directly connected with BSU prospects of bringing its scientific development, Orto-Expert and an intellectual decision support system for diagnostics and treatment in sports-related trauma surgery and recreation therapy  to the Vietnamese market.

Binh Duong University was founded in 1997. About 25,000 students receive education at the university, with nearly 13,000 of them being distant students. The university provides education in the following programs: intermediate vocational education (a two-year course), college education (three years), higher education (four years), continuous education and postgraduate studies (MBA). The university comprises departments of electronics, philology, sociology, biotechnologies, construction, finances, jurisprudence, physical education, management, IT, architecture, foreign languages, international and postgraduate studies. The university implements cooperation programs with the universities of Russia, the U.S., China, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and Japan.

Belarusian State University and Binh Duong University of Vietnam have been cooperating for more than three years. The Rector of Belarusian State University is an honorary member of the scientific council with the Vietnamese university. The Belarusian-Vietnamese innovation, education and sci-tech center was set up in 2012. The Belarusian department of the center is located at Belarusian State University, the Vietnamese department – at Binh Duong University of Vietnam and Venture Capital & Equity Investment Holding Inc. The center is designed for developing educational, scientific and cultural ties between the establishments of higher education of Vietnam and scientific, educational organizations of Belarus.
